Apple had made sensational news again, not because of iPhone, Mac or iPod, its a watch this time. Yes you heard it correct, Apple has launched its watch which has gone on sale worldwide online and was available to buy in-store from 26 June. It comes in two sizes — 38mm and 42mm with 272×340 and 319×390 resolutions, respectively. The three collections are— the aluminium Apple Watch Sport, the stainless steel Apple Watch, and the gold Apple Watch Edition. The Apple Watch Sport starts at $349 while the Apple Watch Edition goes all the way to $17K. Standout Apple Watch features include making and receiving calls, viewing email and messages , and “taptic” notifications. Taptic in less technical term can be defined as : it taps user on the wrist whenever user receive an alert or notification, or press down on the display. It is capable of receiving phone calls as well as iMessage and SMS texts via a paired iPhone and can track fitness, run third-party apps and use an Apple feature called “Handoff”.
Apple Watch runs on WatchOS, which is based around a home screen with circular app icons. The OS can be navigated using multi-touch or the digital crown on the side of the watch. It relays messages, email, phone calls and notifications via the Bluetooth paired iPhone to the Watch. The Watch currently runs watchOS 1.01, which added support for emojis and languages, and was released on the 29th May 2015. Apple CEO Tim Cook announced WatchOS 2.0, the next generation of the Apple Watch operating system.
