Google is looking forward to improvise the feature with its upcoming Android M mobile operating system, which will reportedly come with visual voicemail. Till now Apple users had visual voicemail within the Phone app.
The catch is that wireless carriers will need to implement visual voicemail for it to work. The M dialer has a tab for voicemail in M, which will show all available messages for playback and management.
As of right now, since its only a Preview build of Android M, we don’t know exactly how voicemail managed by your carrier will sync with this new Android M feature.
If you’ll use Google Voice to handle all of your incoming and outgoing calls, your voicemail should already be handled through the Voice app or from your email associated with the account.
The Google implementation will technically have this feature, but it won’t do anything until someone takes advantage of it. All features shown in these preview builds are subject to change, but we do hope Google decides to keep this one intact.
