Radio Active is spreading tremendously. A petition is also going around regarding the Android bug. Finally, Android public issue tracker now indicates that that Android 6.0 will bring a fix to the long-time mobile radio active bug that has plagued several devices running Android Lollipop, causing severe battery drain. The bug affects over 3,000 users. The bug manifests in apps which utilize mobile data, which is shown as a huge amount of mobile radio active time when users check the usage details of apps.
Basically, the system would decide not to let the radio go back to sleep after it was used by an app, which caused the device to remain awake or wake up repeatedly. Because the fix is coming in Marshmallow, you’ll have to wait for a big system update to get it. Android 6.0 Marshmallow is currently available to be downloaded as a final developer preview for the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player, for Samsung devices like the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 update is expected in early 2016.
