Google: Releases Desktop Head Unit

Hello Developers! Here is a surprise for you, now you can create Android apps for cars easily. Google is introducing a better way to visualize auto apps. The Android Auto team has announced an emulator they’re calling Desktop Head Unit (DHU).

Google previously allowed some basic testing through simulators in the Auto SDK, but the DHU makes things a lot better. Not only can you plug your phone to your PC and interact with the DHU just like you would a real Android Auto entertainment center, there’s also support for voice commands, touch interaction, and all the special functions a real Android Auto head unit would provide. In other words, the user experience is completely incomparable and makes testing a breeze.

The whole process is described in detail here.
It can run on Windows, Mac, and Linux, but some additional libraries and components may be required. Also take a look at the DHU documentation page for more useful tips and tricks.
